保罗·维尔霍文，1938年7月18日出生，荷兰演员、导演。
保罗·维尔霍文是最富激情、最大胆和最喜爱挑战的娱乐电影导演，同时也是最富争议的导演之一。主要参演作品有《惊惧黑书》、《透明人》等。
1938年7月他出生在阿姆斯特丹，毕业于莱顿大学，拿到了数学和物理学学士学位。在荷兰皇家海军服役期间，他曾经为海军部门制作纪录片，后来才开始制作电视纪录片。
1969年，他执导了一部讲述中世纪骑士故事的流行电视剧《Floris》，剧中的演员鲁格特·豪尔（Rutger Hauer）后来经常出现在他的电影中。维尔霍文的第一部电影是1971年上映的《在商言商》（Wat zien ik），但令他真正走红荷兰影坛的却是拍摄于1973年的第二部影片《土耳其狂欢》（Turks fruit），片中赤裸裸的性爱场面和扣人心弦的情节让他大受观众，尤其男性观众的欢迎。在拍摄了荷兰影坛最成功的四部电影后，维尔霍文在国际影坛上逐渐被认可，他随即前往美国发展。他在美国的第一部电影是1985年拍摄的《冷血奇兵》（Flesh Blood），并没有引起多大的反响。直到推出了 （RoboCop）和《魔鬼总动员》（Total Recall）两部影片，才真正奠定了他票房大赢家的地位。有时候人们谴责他的电影过渡渲染暴力，对此维尔霍文回答说，他只是在记录社会的暴力而已。如今的他已经成为好莱坞最著名、最有影响力的导演之一，他的作品以梦想与现实之间纷繁的线索和模糊为主线，反映了21世纪的现实。除了导演，维尔霍文还曾为影片《青葱岁月》（Soldaat van Oranje）和《冷血奇兵》撰写过剧本。
